Traveling Competitive Program Overview

Traveling (Competitive) soccer is a great environment for competitiveness and high-level skills training. Any players considering making the jump to a traveling team should be made aware of the following:

  • Traveling soccer can be more expensive than recreational soccer.  It can incur costs from professional coaching,  increased practice time and travel expenses.
  • There is no guarantee of playing time. The best players play.
  • There is an increased chance for high-level development. Players looking to play in college and beyond should seriously consider joining a traveling team.
  • You will be required to try out and will be placed on a team according to ability.
  • Rules are generally more closely related to high school and college soccer.

COMPETITIVE / TRAVEL TEAM ASSESSMENT INFORMATION

Competitive Team Assessments for Fall 2018

In an effort to gauge participation interest and strength of age groups, JSA held player assessments for the Fall 2018 Competitive/Travel soccer season.

If you are a new military family to the area and were not able to attend the assessments, please reach out to either Justin Sirotin (jsirotin@octopd.com) or Keith Deinert (keith.deinert@live.com) for guidance on team placement.  Our community is highly supportive of our military families and welcome the involvement of your children in our soccer programs.

The JSA Competitive Soccer Program, while still focused on fun and individual player development, requires greater time and financial commitment than the Recreational Program. JSA will try to field at least one boys and one girls team for every age group and will do single birth year teams if player numbers allow it.
