Traveling Competitive Program Overview

Traveling (Competitive) soccer is a great environment for competitiveness and high-level skills training. Any players considering making the jump to a traveling team should be made aware of the following:

  • Traveling soccer can be more expensive than recreational soccer.  It can incur costs from professional coaching,  increased practice time and travel expenses.
  • There is no guarantee of playing time. The best players play.
  • There is an increased chance for high-level development. Players looking to play in college and beyond should seriously consider joining a traveling team.
  • You will be required to try out and will be placed on a team according to ability.
  • Rules are generally more closely related to high school and college soccer.

COMPETITIVE / TRAVEL TEAM ASSESSMENT INFORMATION

Jamestown Competitive Soccer participates in the Super Liga league and our hope is that the State will permit travel youth soccer this upcoming Spring.  In an effort to gauge interest, JSA has create a pre-registration page to register your player's interest in playing this Spring.  The registration is free of charge and the link is on the Registration page.  As soon as we have more details about the Spring season viability, we will advise.

If your player is new to competitive soccer, you are encouraged to communicate your interest in the upcoming Fall season directly with our Competitive Director, Justin Sirotin at sirotindesign@gmail.com.  Please share this information with others in your personal network.

The JSA Competitive Soccer Program, while still focused on fun and individual player development, requires greater time and financial commitment than the Recreational Program. JSA will try to field at least one boys and one girls team for every age group and will do single birth year teams if player numbers allow it.

Birth Year Age Matrix

US Youth Soccer requires the use of calendar birth year to determine age groups, NOT school grade.  If you are interested to know what age group your player will be in, please use the US Soccer link.
