Traveling Competitive Program Overview

Traveling (Competitive) soccer is a great environment for competitiveness and high-level skills training. Any players considering making the jump to a traveling team should be made aware of the following:

  • Traveling soccer can be more expensive than recreational soccer.  It can incur costs from professional coaching,  increased practice time and travel expenses.
  • There is no guarantee of playing time. The best players play.
  • There is an increased chance for high-level development. Players looking to play in college and beyond should seriously consider joining a traveling team.
  • You will be required to try out and will be placed on a team according to ability.
  • Rules are generally more closely related to high school and college soccer.

COMPETITIVE / TRAVEL TEAM ASSESSMENT INFORMATION

Competitive Teams for Spring 2020

Jamestown has concluded tryouts/assessments for the Spring 2020 season.  If your player was unable to attend our assessments in the Fall, you are encouraged to communicate directly with Justin Sirotin, Competitive Director for roster availability. jsirotin@octopd.com.  You may be asked to participate in an assessment to ensure your player is put on the appropriate team.  Please share this information with others in your personal network.

The JSA Competitive Soccer Program, while still focused on fun and individual player development, requires greater time and financial commitment than the Recreational Program. JSA will try to field at least one boys and one girls team for every age group and will do single birth year teams if player numbers allow it.
